George is Gipsy Hill born and bred. His happiest memory of the area is the time it snowed so much that he didn’t have to go to school and he tobogganed in the park instead.

Jerry's mother was born in Japan, where his grandparents were missionaries. They came back to his relatives in Ireland when she was 8, on the last liner to get through before the war started.

Bettina lived in north London for about 12 years but grew up in Hannover in Germany. Her favourite thing about the Gipsy Hill area is eating out. She likes to prepare lunch or dinner for friends - something simple that looks and tastes good.

Vero is from Italy and has lived in the area for three years. She came to London to gain some work experience and improve her English after graduation.

Diana came to live in Gipsy Hill after getting a job in Central London. She loves the diversity of the area - the people and the architecture, the hills and the trees, the transport links and the cafés.

Claudio is from Palermo and opened La Bruschetta 3½ years ago. He extends a warm Italian welcome to everyone, including children.

Jo has lived in the Gipsy Hill area for ten years, but is originally from Crawley, via Croydon and Hull. Her favourite thing about the area is the view from the top of Gipsy Hill.

Jana is originally from the Czech Republic, but has been won over by our very own Victoria Sponge.

Iris has lived in Gipsy Hill for 47 years, but was born in Bombay. She remembers that there was only one bubble car when she first came here, but now it is like a car park!

Rebecca hails from Marlborough, Malawi, Lincoln, Frankfurt and London, and has lived in Gipsy Hill for seven very happy years.

Gill really likes the fact that you can see St Paul’s Cathedral from the top of Gipsy Hill, and wonders what it would have looked like without the skyscrapers to dwarf it.
